The message from the weekend’s Opec+ meeting in the Azerbaijan capital Baku was loud and clear — Saudi Arabia is wielding its enormous production weight to ensure oil prices remain high this year.
Budgetary needs are uppermost in the minds of Saudi rulers who have tasked Oil Minister Khalid al-Falih to deliver on a campaign of co-ordinated output cuts between Opec and Russia to achieve higher revenues.
