The 3.5 million tonnes-per-annum FLNG units, which will be built by Samsung Heavy Industries, will be moored with an internal and permanently connected weathervaning turret mooring system.
The internal turret mooring system is expected to be large in terms of diameter with the ability to handle mooring loads in excess of current systems.
SBM chief executive Tony Mace said:“This technology development follows on from the installation of the Espirito Santo floating production, storage and offloading vessel for Shell, which accommodates steel catenary risers for the first time on an internal turret mooring system on an FPSO.”
