After years relegated to the position of a mere bystander in tenders for floating production, storage and offloading vessels in Brazil, Netherlands-based SBM Offshore made a remarkable comeback last month by securing a lucrative charter agreement with Petrobras for the Mero-2 unit, writes Fabio Palmigiani.

SBM reached a leniency agreement in 2018 with several Brazilian authorities over historical corruption practices and was allowed to resume bidding for Petrobras’ contracts.
