Seadrill is "very close" to clinching a second major rig deal in Brazil, with ExxonMobil poised to signing up for the ultra-deepwater drillship West Saturn, close on the heels of the drilling company's new deal with Petrobras for the UDW drillship West Tellus, writes Gareth Chetwynd.
The new two-year contract contract for the 2013-built West Tellus carried an approximate value of $170 million, which equates to a dayrate of $233,000, compared with the $317,000 per day that Petrobras was paying under the previous charter that started in April 2015.
