London-headquartered rig owner Seadrill slumped to a loss in the third quarter as costs and financial expenses overran revenues, with a weaker final period expected.

The Oslo-listed company sank to a net loss of $245 million in the three months to the end of September, on operating revenues of $249 million.

As Seadrill only emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in May this year, there are no comparable figures for the previous year.
