LONDON-listed Cairn Energy has successfully tested a second appraisal well on its SNE oil discovery off Senegal in its Sangomar Offshore Deep licence.
Chief executive Simon Thomson said the results from the SNE-3 well “demonstrated the ability of upper reservoirs to flow at commercially viable rates, validating the scale and growth potential of the field”.
The first drillstem test on SNE-3 flowed at a maximum rate of 5400 barrels per day with a stabilised flow rate of 4000 bpd achieved over 24 hours from a 15 metre zone.
