The big three South Korean shipyards — Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, Hyundai Heavy Industries, and Samsung Heavy Industries — are all expected to contend for hull construction.
Shell is expected to lean towards US fabrication of the topsides. J Ray McDermott in Morgan City, Louisiana, and Kiewit Offshore Services in Ingleside, Texas, are the biggest contenders for the job of assembling and lifting the large process and utilities modules required.
