Sembcorp Marine has been selected as Shell's preferred bidder to carry out a major engineering, procurement and construction contract for a production semi-submersible at the Vito oil development in the US Gulf of Mexico.
Well-placed industry sources told Upstream this week that the Singaporean yard looked set to win out against competition from rivals in South Korea, China and the US after a hard fought contest, and Shell confirmed the result to Upstream.
