MAURITANIA and Senegal have signed a long-awaited Intergovernmental Co-operation Agreement (ICA) to facilitate development of the cross-border Greater Tortue Ahmeyin (GTA) gas field, writes Barry Morgan.

This agreement is crucial for paving the way for a final investment decision on the phased floating liquefied natural gas project in late 2018 or early 2019, with first gas targeted for 2021.

The ICA was signed late last week in Nouakchott, Mauritania by Mohamed Abdel Vetah, Mauritania’s Minister of Energy, Petroleum & Mines, and Mansour Elimane Kane, the Minister of Petroleum & Energy in Senegal.
