Korea already has stakes in the Wokam and Sambidoyong exploration contract areas and it is understood the two countries may work together on gas supply projects. The possibility of Korea reducing its liquefied natural gas imports was also discussed. Indonesia's state-owned oil company Pertamina is aware that Korea is looking to reduce LNG imports from Indonesia and is understood to be willing to accommodate this as deliveries will almost certainly be stepped up once Korea's economic situation improves.
Seoul and Jakarta getting cosy
SOUTH KOREA has offered Indonesia a barter deal that may include oil deliveries in a move that could benefit both cash-strapped countries. A bilateral meeting in Seoul focused on a potential boosting of Korean companies' involvement in Indonesia's oil and gas sectors.
