Nigerian independent Seplat Petroleum Development is considering entering new domestic acreage, with both onshore and offshore tracts on its radar, writes Barry Morgan.
Chief executive Austin Avuru said the London- and Lagos-listed player will consider both shallow- and deep-water blocks in the Niger Delta, with acreage outside of Nigeria being a longer-term ambition.
“It’s Nigeria first," he told Upstream. "A formal round would mean cheaper acquisition but there isn’t much open acreage available and the farm-in route is more likely.”
