The US rig count grew by another seven units in the latest week to 1055 despite much discussion of headwinds in the Permian basin.

Explorers added four land rigs across the US, for a total of 1030, well ahead of 915 a year ago.

The count of rigs in inland waters increased by two to total five — compared to four a year ago — while the offshore sector also added one rig for a total of 20, up from 17 a year ago.
