Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum, which is owned by the Shaanxi provincial government in China, is aiming to build up shale gas production capacity of 1.5 billion cubic metres and discover 130 Bcm of gas reserves from continental shale reservoirs by the end of next year, writes Xu Yihe.
The company was tasked by the central government to explore shale gas at continental reservoirs under a pilot programme seven years ago.
