Shell and Chevron have formed a 50:50 partnership on seven blocks near the Shell-operated Whale find in the southern Alaminos Canyon area in the western deep-water US Gulf of Mexico, writes Kathrine Schmidt.
As of 22 April, Shell is operating the block cluster where each supermajor has a 50% stake — the tracts of Alaminos Canyon blocks 729, 770, 814, 816, 858, 860 and 862, according to the US Bureau of Ocean Energy Management.
