Inpex said it had agreed to acquire a 17.5% share in the Prelude FLNG project in Australia, leaving Shell with the remaining 82.5%.

The Japanese company did not disclose terms of the deal, but well-placed sources said it would pay its equity share of all Shell’s costs to date and all ongoing capital expenditure and operating costs.

“Participating in the Prelude FLNG project will enhance Inpex’s FLNG experience,” said the Japanese company, “and will help in the timely delivery of the Abadi LNG project.
