Shell and Statoil have agreed to share helicopter services in the northern North Sea off Norway, with Shell terminating its contract with Belgium’s NHV Group.
A significant drop in helicopter passengers on the Norwegian continental shelf due to reduced offshore activity has created overcapacity in the helicopter fleet in the country, according to oil companies.
As a result, industry observers are expecting the fleet to be reduced from 60 to 40 helicopters within a short time.
