Top Shell officials declared Gulf Landing dead in March according to project director Greg Koehler.
Shell opted against the structure after determining that there is enough LNG vaporisation capacity along the Gulf coast between existing facilities in the middle of expansion and new terminals planned or being built, Koehler said.
Koehler pointed specifically to Shell's capacity holdings in existing terminals such as Cove Point in Maryland, Georgia's Elba Island, and the new Altamira receiving facility in Mexico, which opened for business last year.
