Yves Merer, president and managing director of Shell China Exploration & Production, said that Shell is expanding natural gas activities while continuing oil production and exploration in China.
He said natural gas will play a central role in China's future economic development and, with its global experience, Shell sees itself as being in a position to contribute to this growth.
"We certainly want to increase our position in China with respect to production of gas," Merer said.
