The Auezov-1 well has been spudded in the Auezov structure, next to Khazar, where the first well drilled last year found hydrocarbons said to be "similar to neighbouring Agip KCO's Kalamkas discovery".
The well depth is 2490 metres, and the company plans to test two targets in Middle Jurassic zones.
The Shell-led Caspi Meruerty operating company said the budget for the second well was about $60 million, which would be financed by Shell as explor-ation operator.
