Brian Boyd, a regional official with Amicus-AEEU, has been visiting workers on Shell's Brent field complex this week to brief them on the "worst-case scenario" for job losses, as part of a new efficiency drive by the supermajor.
Sources believe around 170 offshore jobs could be under threat, and include more than 80 at Amec, which is the main contractor for Shell's northern business unit; 52 at Wood Group, which is responsible for the Brent field, and more than 40 at KBR, which looks after the central North Sea fields.
