Shell has started the process of identifying the companies that will provide the large production facilities for the Crux gas development off Western Australia.

The Anglo-Dutch supermajor hosted a project briefing in Perth late last week for interested services companies that was very well attended by local and overseas contractors, sources said.

Just before the briefing, Shell launched a pre-qualification exercise related to three packages — the topsides for the Crux production platform, the jacket and piles for the platform, and the subsea and pipeline requirements.
