Shell confirmed that 28 kilogrammes of gas escaped during operations involving a pig launcher on 1 July. The UK Health & Safety Executive (HSE) said last week that a Prohibition Notice — its most serious form of enforcement action — was served on 12 July.
The leak was categorised as “significant”, the second most serious under HSE classification.
