Shell is in talks with the Iraqi government to tie in associated gas from its giant Majnoon field with production from the Basra Gas Company (BGC).
Shell’s Iraq chairman Marcus Antonini said the supermajor was already capturing sweet gas from Majnoon and plans to also tackle sour gas.
He said an agreement was needed with the Oil Ministry in Baghdad to send Majnoon supplies to BGC, which is already harnessing associated gas from the giant Rumaila, West Qurna 1 and Zubair fields in the Basra region.
