Located in a remote area, one of the export lines was severely vandalised and repairs are ongoing, a spokesman told Upstream. In collaboration with community representatives, repair work has now started after a joint investigation team comprising regulatory and security personnel determined a leak had been caused by “third-party illegal tampering”.
Shell said it was working to restore production as soon as possible but gave no indication on how long repairs would last.
