StatoilHydro has been responsible for the first development phase of the $10 billion project, which came on stream in September.
Shell will manage further development of the Norwegian Sea gas field, adding more wells and subsea templates and developing a concept for field compression, which is needed to boost the gas flow from about 2015.
The field has been developed with subsea installations at depths between 850 and 1100 metres and an onshore plant at Aukra in north-west Norway.
