Shell has taken over operatorship and taken a final investment decision on the development of the Arran gas-condensate field in the UK central North Sea, a planned tie-back to the supermajor’s Shearwater platform.
Arran is the fourth final investment decision Shell has been involved with in the UK North Sea in 2018.
The confirmation follows weeks of speculation that Shell would take the driving seat at Arran after it emerged in August that previous operator Dana Petroleum and a non-operating partner, private equity-backed Zennor Petroleum, had chosen to exit the project.
