Shell has confirmed that it will push forward with development of its host facility for its Whale project in the deep-water US Gulf of Mexico using a concept that will be 80% based on the under-development Vito semi-submsersible production platform, writes Kathrine Schmidt.
The Anglo-Dutch supermajor has also begun the process of purchasing long-lead items for the project, which is targeted to come on line less that six years after its discovery last year, the company said.
