Shell has invited a wide field of almost a dozen rig contractors to bid to drill as many as eight exploration wells as part of its major upcoming deep-water programme off Mexico.
The Anglo-Dutch supermajor confirmed its deep-water rig process to Upstream, noting also that the first two wells would be drilled by Transocean, which disclosed a campaign for the operator in Mexico during its last quarterly conference call.
