Anglo-Dutch supermajor Shell is in talks with Tanzania's government to secure an extension to gas-rich Block 4, one of three offshore areas destined to supply feedstock to a proposed liquefied natural gas plant at Lindi.

The news came amid indications from one of the supermajor’s partners that the liquefaction scheme — part of the integrated Tanzania Gas & LNG Project (TGLP) — which has been dormant for years, may soon start to see a pick-up in activity.
