Anglo-Dutch supermajor Shell is moving forward with an ambitious exploration programme off Brazil and has started drilling a first well in the Alto de Cabo Frio Oeste pre-salt area in the Santos basin, writes Fabio Palmigiani.
Drilling of the ACFO wildcat began on 6 October with the Constellation Oil Services drillship Brava Star in 1720 metres of water. The campaign is expected to last between two and three months and reach a final depth of 5200 metres.
