The deep-water portfolio that Shell has built up in Brazil is a prize position that the Anglo- Dutch supermajor believes will help it to catch up on US rival ExxonMobil in terms of share value.
Shell has been present in Brazil for more than 100 years. In more recent years it has made an important contribution to the development and application of deep-water technologies in the South American nation, through the BC-10 development.
