Shell has sanctioned a scheme to re-route gas exports from its Shearwater hub in the central North Sea, the seventh UK upstream final investment decision the company has been involved in this year.

Under the new project, first revealed by Upstream in August, gas currently exported along the dry-gas Shearwater-Elgin Area Line (SEAL) network to the Bacton terminal in Norfolk will now be fed in to the wet-gas Shell Esso Gas & Associated Liquids (SEGAL) system through the 290-kilometre Fulmar Gas Line (FGL).
