Known as DrillTec Synergy, the rig has its origins in a drive by Shell E&P Europe to find a cost-effective approach to exploit the operator´s stock of small land-based gas fields where conventional technology and well designs would be too expensive.
The rig needs a crew of only five people, has a 370-tonne lifing capability and normal 5000 psi pump capacity.
