ExxonMobil has permanently shut down all production from its Sable Offshore Energy Project off Nova Scotia, Canada as the supermajor moves forward with decommissioning the development.

The output at the gas complex was stopped on 31 December, according to a notice from the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board that was confirmed by an ExxonMobil spokesperson.

"The end of production from all (Sable Offshore Energy Project) fields as of this date aligns with planned decommissioning and abandonment activities for the project," the notice said.
