At least five leading offshore contractors are understood to be battling it out for the right to participate in a front-end engineering and design contest linked to Posco Daewoo’s third-phase development of the Shwe gas project off Myanmar.

Several sources close to the development, which in total is expected to be worth more than $500 million and will involve installation of a new compression platform, told Upstream that bids for the FEED contest that would eventually lead to a prized engineering, procurement and construction contract were recently submitted to the operator.
