A statement released on Monday by the Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) said that Wang is being investigated for suspected “serious law and discipline violations”.
Wang last made a public appearance on 24 April when he attended a Sinopec board meeting.
Chinese media reported that the probe of 52-year-old Wang was associated with him allegedly taking advantage of his position to help relatives win equipment supply contracts.
