Egyptians voted in a presidential election this week that guaranteed victory to President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, with no credible rival challenging him, writes Nassir Shirkhani.

Sisi, who sees the vote more as a referendum on his rule, has urged Egyptians to turn out in force, hoping a mass turnout will give him a mandate to revive the stagnant economy and root out Islamists fighting to topple him.
