The Skarv 3 well and a successful subsequent sidetrack in May boosted reserves estimates for the Skarv field to 500 million barrels of oil equivalent, mainly gas, but the split between gas and liquids remains a subject of uncertainty.
The testing programme should be concluded by the end of August or early September, when Agip plans to use the Smedvig rig for an appraisal of its Barents Sea Goliath oil discovery.
