Oil started to flow last month from the first two of four wells on the small Osprey platform. Production should rise to 15,000 barrels per day by the middle of the year following completion of dedicated onshore facilities within the next month or two.
Recoverable reserves at Redoubt Shoal may now be estimated at anything up to 100 million barrels, but when planning started in 1997, the best expectations were set at little more than a quarter this figure, and even that was subject to confirmation drilling.
