China’s BGP Marine is set to complete a major multi-client 2D seismic survey off Somalia within days, and data from the shoot is expected to underpin a potential licensing round.
A well-placed industry source said the BGP Pioneer vessel is set to finish the 28,000-kilometre campaign by the end of this month.
The five-month operation is being carried out on behalf of Oslo-listed Spectrum and the Somali government, which is understood to have secured significant industry funding for the data gathering exercise from ExxonMobil and Shell, among others.
