Sonangol, Angola’s state oil company, claims that BP’s Katambi-1 wildcat in the sparsely drilled Benguela basin found 1.7 billion barrels of oil equivalent of in-place resource and is the country’s largest ever gas discovery.
The state oil company, which has been hit hard by low oil prices and is in dire need of good news, said Katambi’s in-place resource stands at 8 trillion cubic feet of gas plus 280 million barrels of condensate, and declared the find to be commercial.
