Output from the train — Algeria’s largest liquefaction plant — can reach a peak of 5.1 million tonnes per annum when the ambient temperature is below 21 degrees Celsius, said Saipem’s LNG Technology manager Anton Marco Fantolini.

Train one has a nameplate capacity of 4.7 million tonnes.

“It was a complex project... one of the most difficult challenges from the beginning was to produce more. This was studied during front-end engineering and design but was actually developed during the first stages of the EPC when we were to change the majority of the materials,” Famtaloni said.
