UK-based independent Spirit Energy has confirmed that it is set to take over from Premier Oil and become operator of the Babbage field in the UK southern North Sea, writes Rob Watts.
Spirit, which already holds a 13% interest in the licence containing Babbage, will also take on operatorship of the nearby Cobra discovery, where it holds a 50% interest, and is planning exploration next year on the nearby Python prospect.
