Norway's Equinor has made an oil discovery that could add resources to the Wisting development in the Barents Sea and provide information for further exploration of the country's northernmost oil province, writes Beate Schjolberg.
The Sputnik find in production licence 855, about 30 kilometres north-west of Wisting, probably holds between 20 million and 65 million barrels of light oil in a Late Triassic fluvial sandstone reservoir in the Snadd Formation, according to the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate.
