Sri Lanka is gearing up to soon introduce a new Petroleum Resources Act, aimed at generating renewed investor interest in explor­ation activity ahead of the nation’s third offshore licensing round that is expected to be launched early next year.

Minister of Petroleum Resources Development Chandima Weerakkody says the new act will be crucial for the nation’s oil and gas sector as it will ensure stability for investors and provide them a “legal framework” for their investments.
