South Korea’s SK E&S has submitted an unsolicited bid to the Sri Lankan authorities, proposing a liquefied natural gas import project based on a floating storage and regasification unit in the South Asian country, writes Amanda Battersby.
SK has reportedly offered to supply the FSRU free of charge, provided that the Sri Lanka government in Colombo commits to a take or pay LNG contract and builds the necessary gas pipeline infrastructure.
