PASSAGE last week in Nigeria’s lower chamber of legislation to impose a 3% levy on Nigeria LNG (NLNG) to help fund the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has drawn sharp criticism from oil companies.
Nigeria LNG stakeholders Shell, Total and Eni are among those fearing lawmakers will jeopardise future investments, including in future expansion of the liquefaction project.
Also voicing disquiet that the bill had now progressed to the Senate was the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), which as principal shareholder holds 49% of NLNG alongside Shell’s 25.6%,
