Tim Dodson, Statoil's senior vice president for technology, told Upstream that the company intended to develop further the LNG technology, which it is already implementing on its Snohvit field some 140 kilometres north-west of Hammerfest in the Barents Sea.
A new three-year alliance, signed by the three companies last week, will strengthen Statoil's focus on LNG technology and is a successor to the Statoil-Linde LNG Technology alliance.
