Norwegian operator Statoil and Swedish player Lundin Petroleum were the biggest winners as Norway handed out 10 new licences in the Barents Sea this week, including three permits in new acreage near the marine border with Russia.
Statoil and Lundin received stakes in five licences each, and will operate four and three of their permits, respectively.
Both companies have had exploration success in the Barents Sea in recent years with the Johan Castberg and Alta-Gohta discoveries.
