Statoil is in no hurry to push through a development decision for the Trestakk field in the Norwegian Sea, despite calls from the authorities to bring the discovery on stream by 2018.
After postponing a concept decision in March, the Norwegian national oil company now regards 2018 as “almost unattainable”, according to a document obtained by Upstream.
In a rare instance of using the petroleum law to force through a development, the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) earlier this year told operator Statoil and its partners to develop the 50 million barrel oilfield.
